Percy Evan Barnett (SN 6644) born at Ballarat, first enlisted in 1915 but was discharge medically unfit after four months training. As a married 27 year old labourer, he enlisted again in Melbourne on August 9th 1916 and, assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion, embarked aboard the Nestor on October 2nd and sailed to England. The same medical condition again flared and prompted his return to Australia. He returned on the Borda, disembarked at Melbourne on November 21st 1917 and was discharged medically unfit on December 26th.
