Frank Duke (SN 3133A) was born in Ballarat and enlisted there on October 18th 1916. The 22 year old, single, railway shunter was posted to the 38th Infantry Battalion with which he left Melbourne on board the Medic in December. He reached France in August 1917 where he was appointed Lance Corporal six months later. He was killed in the fighting at Mont St. Quentin on August 31st 1918, and is buried in the Peronne Communal Cemetery, France.
