Biography

Alexander Buchanan Robinson (SN 3006), born in Ballarat, was educated at Urquhart Street State School and Ballarat High School. A single, 18 year old grocer, he enlisted in Melbourne on August 19th 1916 and was posted to the 39th Infantry Battalion. He embarked from Melbourne on board the Ballarat in February 1917 and, after six months training in England, he arrived in France in November. He was killed in action near Chuignes on August 25th 1918, and is buried in Bray Military Cemetery, France.
