Biography

William L. Ritchie (SN 7071) was born in Bullarook, but enlisted in Melbourne on September 11th, 1916. An unmarried 26 year old engine driver, he was assigned to the 5th Battalion and left Australia on board the Hororata in late November. He spent a couple of brief stints in hospital but was killed in action in France on August 23rd 1918. His body is buried in Tincourt New British Cemetery, France.
