Biography

Leonard Joseph Willis (SN 2122) was born in Cororooke, near Colac, but enlisted in Melbourne on 25th September 1916 as an engineer. He was 27 years old and single. He was posted to the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade and embarked from Melbourne aboard the Orsova in early December. After further training in England, he reached France in November 1917. On 29th March 1918 he died gas poisoning suffered at Wystchaete Ridge, Belgium, and is buried in Outtersteene Cemetery, France.
