Leonard Joseph Willis was born in Cororooke, but enlisted from Footscray on 25th September 1916 as an engineer. He was 27 years old and single. He was posted to the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, with Regimental No. 2122. On 29th March 1918 he died gas poisoning incurred at Wystchaete Ridge, Belgium, and is buried in Outtersteene Cemetery, France.
