Biography

Joseph Pattie (SN 766) was born in Ballarat and attended the Macarthur Street State School. He enlisted on September 10th 1914. Employed as an iron moulder, the 19 year old joined the 14th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne just before Christmas on board the Ulysses. Illness ruled him out of Gallipoli service but he reached France in June 1916. On November 28th 1916 he was killed in action near Gueudecourt, and is buried in Bull's Road Cemetery, Flers, France.
