Biography

Cyril Wingrave (SN 13367) was a 22 year old clerk from Bradshaw Street and enlisted in Ballarat on July 22nd 1915. He trained at Castlemaine and then with the Medical Corps at Ballarat and Ascot Vale becoming a Special AMC Reinforcement. He embarked from Melbourne on March 7th 1916 on the Karoola, spent a couple of weeks in Egypt then, in June, arrived in France. In September he joined the 13th Field Ambulance and served safely through the war. He returned home after the war as a member of the nursing staff on the Aeneas, disembarking at Melbourne on July 12th 1919. He died in September 1943 at the age of 50.
