Biography

Ivor Alexander Williams was a single 18 year old clerk when he enlisted on the 18th of January 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on the 10th of May 1915. He was promoted to Lance Sergeant on the 24th of June 1915. On August 24th 1916, Ivor was wounded in action with gunshot wounds to his left arm and side. He re-joined his unit on the 14th of January 1917. On February 15th 1917 he was promoted Temporary Corporal, and was promoted again on the 15th of April 1917 and given the rank Corporal. On September 1st 1918 Ivor was wounded in action for a second time with gunshot wounds to his leg and left arm. He returned to Australia on the 5th of February 1919 and discharged as medically unfit on the 30th of March 1919.
