Duncan Raymond Brown (SN 6961) was born in Abbotsford but was living in Yarraville, a 28-year-old engineer, when he enlisted on October 17th 1916. He embarked from Melbourne on the Hororata in November to serve with the 7th Battalion. He was killed in action at Broodseinde Ridge on October 5th 1917. He has no known grave and his name is listed on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
