Percival Sampson Dawe (SN 3177) born at Willunga SA, was a married 33 year old clerk when he enlisted in Melbourne on October 19th 1916. He embarked aboard the Karmala on February 6th 1917 and sailed to Egypt for service with the 8th Light Horse Regiment. He served in Egypt and Palestine and during his service he was transferred to the 3rd Light Horse Regiment. He avoided battle wounds and major illness and returned to Australia disembarking at Melbourne on July 3rd 1919.
