Biography

William Horace Stanley Williams (SN 3452) born at Clunes, was a 26 year old teacher at Boho South near Violet Town when he enlisted at Melbourne on October 20th 1916. As a reinforcement for the 2nd Pioneer Battalion, he embarked aboard the Medic on December 16th and sailed to England. It seems that exposure to extreme cold while training in England caused him to develop chronic nephritis and he was assessed as unfit for active service. He was returned to Australia for ‘home duties’ aboard the Nestor, disembarked at Melbourne on September 24th 1917 and was discharged medically unfit on November 9th.
