William Horace Stanley Williams (SN 3452) was born in Clunes, and was a 26 year old School Teacher at Sebastopol when he enlisted in the 2nd Pioneer Battalion, Reinforcements 8 on October 20th 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne on board the Medic on December 16th 1916. By the time he reached France he had become ill and was hospitalised. He was diagnosed as suffering from chronic nephritis, a kidney disorder, and was returned to Australia in July 1917 for 'home duties'. He was subsequently discharged as 'medically unfit' for service on November 9th 1917.
