Alexander Shearer was born in Warrenheip, but enlisted from Geelong on 13th September 1915. He was 24 years old, single, and a blacksmith. He joined the 15th Australian Machine Gun Company, with Regimental No. 3248. He was killed in action at Fromelles on 19th July 1916, and is buried in Rue du Bois Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France.
