Biography

Born in Buangor, Victoria, John Edwin Jones was a 27 year old widowed motor mechanic at the time of his enlistment in Ballarat on the 13th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on the 10th of November 1915.
On the 16th of October 1915 he was appointed Staff Sergeant.
John returned to Australia on the 8th of June 1919 and was discharged on the 17th of August 1919. On the 20th of August 1919, Staff Sergeant John Edwin Jones was awarded the Military Medal.
