Harold Linsday Sells (SN 16) was born in Ballarat, was single and a clerk when he enlisted on August 17th 1915. He was 23 years of age. He was assigned to the Army Postal Service Corps and his unit embarked from Melbourne, aboard the Medina on November 2nd 1915. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on March 8th 1916 before being hospitalised with swollen glands in neck. In July 1916 he contracted malaria whilst on ordinary military service which caused severe debilitation. According to his medical reports the Board recommended he be made permanently unfit for general service. He embarked on board the Beltana on October 18th for his return to Australia.
