Biography

Sydney Clues was born in Sale, VIC and was a Salesman by trade when he enlisted from Ballarat with the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station on 16 September 1915 at the age of 30. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A7 Medic on 20 May 1916. He became ill and was hospitalised in France before being transferred to the Ontario Military Hospital in England where he was diagnosed as suffering from nephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys. As a consequence, he was returned to Australia and discharged as unfit for active service on October 22nd 1917. He died five years alter on February 22nd 1922 he died at the age of 36.
