Sydney Clues (SN 14010) born at Sale, was a married 30 year old salesman when he enlisted in Ballarat on September 29th 1915. He trained with the Australian Medical Corps before embarking from Sydney aboard the Medic on June 5th 1916. He sailed first to England before being deployed to France to serve with the 3rd Casualty Clearing Station. By November he was increasingly troubled by illness and in April 1917 he was evacuated to hospital in England where he was assessed as unfit for active service. He was returned to Australia aboard the Kanowna, disembarked at Melbourne on September 11th and was discharged ‘medically unfit, chronic nephritis’ on October 22nd 1917.
