Biography

Angus Dearden (SN 5841) was born in Ballarat but enlisted in Perth, W.A., on 15th April 1916. At that time he was 36 years old, unmarried and working as a clerk. He was posted to the 28th Infantry Battalion and left Australia in October 1916 on board the Suffolk. He suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen in fighting near Dernancourt, France, and died the following day, 25th May 1918, while being treated at the 61st Casualty Clearing Station. He is buried in the Vignacourt British Cemetery, France.
