Biography

Born in Sebastopol, Victoria, Arnold Holst was a single 18 year old electrician at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 26th of January 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board RMS Morea on the 30th of May 1916.
On November 4th 1916 Arnold was promoted to Corporal, then Lance Sergeant on the 17th of December 1916 and Sergeant on the 31st of May 1918.
On the 27th of August 1918, Arnold was mentioned in despatches.
He returned to Australia on the 19th of April 1919 and discharged on the 3rd of June 1919.
