Thomas Scott (SN 14579) born in Ballarat, was a 19 year old baker when he enlisted in Ballarat on October 5th 1915. He trained with the Australian Medical Corps at Broadmeadows before he embarked aboard the Port Sydney on September 7th 1916. In January 1917 he commenced service in France with the 2nd Field Ambulance. For a short time he was transferred to the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade as a medic. In September 1918 he was wounded in action, gassed, and evacuated to England where he was when the war ended. He returned to Australia aboard the Plassy, disembarked at Melbourne on April 30th 1919 and was discharged on June 7th
