Biography

Thomas Scott was born in Ballarat and was a Baker by trade when he enlisted in the Australian Army Medical Corps, July 1916 Reinforcements on 22 September 1915 at the age of 20. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A15 Port Sydney on 7 September 1916. . He reached England in late October, then after further training he moved to France in April 1917 to serve with the 2nd Australian Field Ambulance Brigade. On September 2nd 1918 he was wounded, gassed, and evacuated to the U.K. where he saw out the war. He returned to Australia on the HT Plassy, disembarking at Melbourne on April 30th 1919.
