Biography

Harold Ordish was a married 42 year old soldier by trade. He enlisted on the 23rd of February 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on the 27th of May 1916. Harold was promoted on the 1st of April 1916, the 1st of May 1916 and the 3rd of June 1917 and was given the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain and finally Major.

It was reported on the 13th of June 1917 that he had been admitted with a sprain to his right ankle. Harold rejoined his unit on the 22nd of July 1917. On August 1st 1917 he was appointed Divisional Machine Gun Officer, 2nd Division. On the 3rd of June 1918 it was reported that Harold was awarded the Distinguished Service Order. He returned to Australia on the 9th of March 1920 and was discharged on the 1st of May 1920 due to the termination of his enlistment period.
