Biography

William Gordon Crosbie was born in Ballarat and was a Railway Employee at the time he enlisted in the 60th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcement on 28 February 1916 at the age of 36. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A17 Port Lincoln on 4 May 1916. In December 1916 he was transferred to France to reinforce the 58th Battalion. Twelve months later in December 1917 he was transferred to the 5th Australian Division on permanent base duties. After the war he returned to Australia on the Takada, disembarked at Melbourne on February 11th 1919 and was discharged æmedically unfit – chronic arthritis'.
