William Budge was born in Ballarat and enlisted from Ballarat East on 31st January 1916. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 5053. He was 40 years old, single and a labourer. Later he was transferred to the 46th Infantry Battalion. On 11th April 1917 he was killed in action near Passchendaele. His name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
