Biography

Frank Colin Ross (SN 5761) was born in Mandeville, N.Z., but enlisted in Tasmania on April 7th 1916. He was a cheesemaker, unmarried and 30 years old. He joined the 12th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Hobart in May on board the Seang Choon. After training in England, he reached France in September but spent December and January in hospital with bronchitis and influenza. He rejoined his unit in February but was killed in action just a few days later on February 25th 1917. He is buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France.

His brother James was killed at Gallipoli while serving with the NZ Otago Regiment.
