Allen Norman Edwards (SN 1655) was born in Ballarat and attended the Humffray Street State School. He was a 22 year old unmarried clerk from Peel Street when he enlisted on March 13th 1916. He left Australia in May on board the Port Lincoln to serve with the 58th Infantry Battalion at the Western Front. He was killed in action at Polygon Wood on September 25th 1917. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium. He was 23 years of age.
