Biography

Born in Ballarat, Norman Stanley Hellard was a single 24 year old clerk at the time of his enlistment in Fremantle, Western Australia on the 15th of March 1916. His unit embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board HMAT A16 Port Melbourne on the 30th of October 1916.
On February 2nd 1917, Norman was attached to the Australian Army Pay Corps. He was promoted to Extra Regimental 2nd Corporal on the 1st of September 1917.
Norman returned to Australia on the 17th of November 1918 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 2nd of July 1919 due to Phthisis.
