Born in Ballarat, Robert George Nice was a married 23 year old butcher at the time of his enlistment on the 17th April 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A15 Port Sydney on the 7th of September 1916. On the 21st of September 1918 he was transferred from the 46th Battalion to the Australian Infantry Base Depot. He returned to Australia on the 5th of August 1919 and was discharged on the 20th of September 1919.
