Biography

Leslie Simeon John Sell (Lt.) was a 24 year old photographer when he enlisted in Melbourne on October 23rd 1916. He trained with the Australian Flying Corps 4th Squadron before embarking from Melbourne on board the Omrah the following January. On reaching England he continued training with the 66th Training Squadron and graduated as a Flying Officer (pilot) in December. In mid-March 1918 he joined the AFC 3rd Squadron in France but just ten days later, on March 25th, he was wounded in action and died of his wounds later that day at the 15th Casualty Clearing Station. He was 26 years of age and is buried at the Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery in France.
