George Ernest Osborne was born in Sheffield, UK, and enlisted from Ballarat North on 17th September 1914. He was married, 34 years old and stated that he was a canvasser. His wife wrote that he was a silversmith. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 329. He was killed during the Landing at Anzac Cover on the 25th April 1915. His name is on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
