Biography

George Ernest Osborne (SN 329) was born in Sheffield, UK, and enlisted from Ballarat North on September 17th 1914. He was married, 34 years old and stated that he was a canvasser, although his wife later wrote that he was a silversmith. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion, and embarked from Melbourne in October on board the Benalla. He was killed during the Landing at Anzac Cove on the April 25th 1915. With no known grave his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Lone Pine, Gallipoli, Turkey.
