Biography

George David Charles Jones was born in Ballarat but enlisted from Pitara, WA, on 10th July 1916. He was 38 years old, married and a farmer. He was posted to the 51st Infantry Battalion Regimental No. 2935. Later he was transferred to 59th Infantry Battalion. He was a veteran of the Boer War. He was killed in action at Polygon Wood on 26th September 1917. His name is on Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
