Biography

Frederick George Ronalds was born in Buninyong, Victoria, was single and a Labourer when he enlisted in the 12th Battalion, 13th Reinforcement on 4 August 1915 at the age of 25. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A19 Afric on 5 January 1916. He was hospitalised briefly in January 1917 for a sprained left ankle before being discharged to furlough to England. He overstayed his furlough by two days and was awarded forfeiture of three days' pay. He was sent to hospital as sick in August 1917, remaining for a total of 58 days. On 20 February 1918 he received his discharge orders and returned to Australia.
