Biography

Albert Stephen Kett (SN 6391) was born in Ballarat East and educated at Christian Brothers School. He enlisted in Sydney on March 18th 1916. He was 26 years old, single, and a painter. He joined the 2nd Infantry Battalion, embarking for the battle front in August on board the Euripides. He arrived in France in December but spent Christmas in hospital with fever. He rejoined his unit in early January but was killed in action at Polygon Wood on September 18th 1917. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Albert S. Ketts.
