Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and an Engineer by occupation, Albert Edward Bult was 26 years and single when enlisted on the 25th of September 1916 in the 2nd Australian Flying Squadron, 3rd Reinforcements, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of 2nd Air Mechanic, Number 1272. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A67 'Orsova' on the 6th of December 1916. Promoted Corporal1/A.M., Fern Hill on the 1st of November 1917; Corporal promoted Sergeant on the 1st of December 1917; Sergeant appointed acting Flight Sergeant on the 6th of March 1918; acting flight Sergeant promoted Flight Sergeant on the 1st of April 1918; flight Sergeant remustered Chief Mechanic 6th Training Squadron on the 17th of May 1918 and was listed as returned to Australia on the 6th of May 1919 per 'Kaiser-I-Hind' ex England. Disembarked on the 16th of June 1919 and Discharged on the 20th of October 1919 from the 3rd Military District. Tree No. 2782
