Albert Anthony Everall (SN 6294/29386) born in Ballarat, was a 38 year old saddler when he enlisted in Sydney on March 23rd 1916. On November 11th he embarked from Melbourne aboard the Suevic, reaching England on January 30th 1917. His early days in England were dominated by several charges of having been absent without leave. In September he crossed to France to serve with the 28th Australian Army Service Corps. While he had some health problems, he avoided battle wounds and at the war’s end he left England on December 10th 1918. He returned to Australia aboard the Somali, disembarked on February 8th 1919 and was discharged ‘medically unfit, chronic deafness’ on March 28th.
