Biography

Arthur Tomkins (SN 3250) was born in Creswick and attended the Creswick State School. He was a 21 year old bricklayer, married to Elsie, when he enlisted in Ballarat on October 24th 1916. He was allocated to the 60th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne on December 16th aboard the Medic. He reached England in February 1917 but further training and illness delayed his arrival in France until September.
