Biography

William Gilbert, a single 33 year old Miner, enlisted on the 24th of September 1915. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A67 Orsova on the 11th of March 1916.
On November 5th, 1916 he was appointed Temporary Driver.
He reverted to a Sapper on the 24th of January 1917.
On June 12th 1918 he was admitted to the 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance for Malaria, but was discharged the next day.
On September 11th 1918 he accidentally injured his left tibia after being kicked by a mule.
William returned to Australia on the 7th of August 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 29th of September 1919.
