Biography

William Arthur Rowe (SN 3286) was Ballarat born and attended the Macarthur Street State School. He was a maltster, 23 years of age, and single when he enlisted in Melbourne on November 27th 1916. He was drafted to the 58th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in December on board the Medic. After training in England, he joined his unit in Belgium but, just five days later, he was killed in action at Polygon Wood on September 25th 1917. He is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, Passchendaele, Belgium.
