John Francis McIntosh was born in Ballarat and enlisted in Cottlesloe, WA, on 1st May 1916. He was a commercial traveller, married and aged 23. He was allocated to the 13th Infantry Battalion with Regimental No. 7510. Later he was transferred to the 16th Infantry Battalion. On 2nd June 1918 he was killed in action is the trenches, and is buried in the Adelaide Cemetery at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
