Biography

Bert Murray (SN 18450) born in New Zealand, was a 36 year old hospital attendant when he enlisted in Melbourne on April 20th 1917. He trained with the Australian Medical Corps before embarking aboard the Nestor on November 21st . He served in Egypt before moving on to England in March 1918 to continue with the A.M.C. until a foot problem limited his capacity. He returned to Australia aboard the SS Malta, disembarked at Melbourne on September 28th 1918 and was discharged ‘medically unfit, hallux valgus’.
