Biography

Edward Osborne (SN 2740) had attended the Pootilla State School and was a 20 year old farmer from Clarke's Hill when he enlisted on July 20th 1915. He was assigned to the 23rd Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in October on board the Ulysses, arriving in France in March 1916. He suffered a gunshot wound to his right arm in July and was evacuated to England. He returned to France in December but was killed in the fighting at Heincourt near Albert on April 17th 1918. He is buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery, France.
