Biography

Joseph Roy Kinsman (SN 34405) was born in Ballarat and attended the Dana Street State School. He was an 18 year old student when he enlisted on February 2nd 1917. He embarked for active service in May and disembarked in England in July, before joining the 4th Division Ammunition Column in France in September. He experienced periods of illness but no battle related wounds, and had periods of leave in Paris, U.K. and Brussels. At war’s end he returned to Australia, disembarking at Melbourne on August 20th 1919, and was discharged a month later.
