William Leo Larkin (SN 733) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old clerk when he enlisted in Melbourne on March 7th 1917. He embarked aboard the Suevic on June 21st to serve with the 39th Infantry Battalion. He was moved to France in November 1917 but in June 1918 he was transferred to A.I.F. Headquarters in London as a Staff Clerk. He returned to Australia aboard the Ceramic, disembarked at Melbourne on May 6th 1920 and was discharged on June 21st. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number VX11459.
His brother John was killed in action on August 18th 1918 and is also honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
