Biography

Charles Vincent Lea (SN 3329) born at Horsham, was a 19 year old bootmaker when he enlisted in Ballarat on February 12th 1917. He embarked aboard the Boorara on May 10th and sailed to Egypt where he served with the 8th Light Horse Regiment. In September 1917 he joined the Australian Mounted Division as a driver. He avoided serious illness or wounds and returned to Australia aboard the Port Denison and was discharged on December 21st 1919.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Charles B. Lea.
