Biography

Charles Wilson (SN 3490) was born in Ballarat where he attended the Humffray Street State School. He was a 22 year old saddler when he enlisted on February 16th 1917. He was posted to the 59th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Sydney aboard Port Melbourne in July. After further training in England he crossed to France in December 1917. During his service he was promoted to Sergeant. On April 5th 1918 he was killed in action in the Corbie area, and is buried in the Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
