Biography

Gerald Jones (SN 7507) born in Melbourne, was a 22 year old draper’s assistant when he enlisted in Melbourne on February 16th 1917. Assigned to the 6th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Themistocles on August 4th and sailed to England. In February 1918 he joined his unit in France and served there until August when he suffered a severe gunshot wound to his arm. He was evacuated to England and his war was over. He returned to Australia aboard the Orca, disembarked at Melbourne on April 7th 1919 and was discharged on April 30th.
