Biography


A soldier by trade, Gerald Jones was a married 22 year old when he enlisted on the 16th of February 1917. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A32 Themistocles on the 4th of August 1917.
He was promoted to permanent Sergeant on the 16th of February 1917.
On the 10th of August 1918 Gerald was wounded in action, he was invalided to the U.K on the 15th of August with a severe gunshot wound to his right arm.
He returned to Australia on the 7th of April 1919 and was discharged on the 30th of April 1919.
