Biography

Born in Ballarat, Leslie James Leach was a single 21 year old farmer at the time of his enlistment on the 16th of February 1917. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on the 11th of May 1917.
On the 30th of October 1918, Leslie was awarded the Military Medal. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 28th of December 1918.
Leslie returned to Australia on the 24th of November 1919 and was discharged on the 26th of January 1920.
