Edward James McCormick enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 19 on the 16th of February 1916. He had been born in Allendale, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Labourer. He volunteered and was stationed with the 21st Battalion, 19th Reinforcement later transferring to the 24th Battalion with the Regimental number 6929. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 17th of July 1919.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Edward J. McCormack.
