Biography

Stanley Nicholas Warburton Grose MSM (SN 6762) born in Ballarat, was a 23 year old military staff clerk when he enlisted in Melbourne on March 9th 1917. He embarked from Melbourne on May 11th aboard the Anchises and sailed to England. He served first at Australian Headquarters in London before being transferred to Anzac Headquarters at Rouen, France. His service was in an administrative role rather than combat, but he was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal for his conspicuously good work, particularly in regard to managing ammunition supplies for the battles in Belgium.
