Born in Ballarat, Thomas Green was a single 27 year old farmer at the time of his enlistment on the 8th of February 1917. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on the 11th of May 1917.
On the 26th of June 1918, Thomas Green declared his true name to be Cornelius Joseph McInerney; it is unknown why he enlisted under an alias.
He returned to Australia on the 27th of November 1919 and was discharged due to his appointment being terminated on the 4th of January 1920.
