Biography

Geoffrey Ballantyne Tunbridge (SN 7598) was born in Ballarat and educated at Ballarat College. He was a 20 year old medical student when he enlisted in Melbourne on March 15th 1917. He embarked from Melbourne in August aboard the Themistocles serving first with the 5th Infantry Battalion then later with the 5th Field Artillery Brigade. On 14th March 1918 he was killed in action near Hill 60 in Belgium. He is buried at Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery, Belgium.

His brothers Walter and Daryl also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
