Geoffrey Ballantyne Tunbridge was born in Ballarat and enlisted from there on 2nd August 1917. He was 20 years old, single and a medical student only part way through his studies. He joined the 5th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 7598. Later he transferred to the 5th Field Artillery Brigade. On 14th March 1918 he was killed in action while his unit was supporting the front line trenches. He is buried at Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery, Belgium.
