Biography

Archibald Carlysle Parsons was born in Lahore, India and was a Seaman living in Ballarat East when he enlisted in the 46th Battalion, 9th Reinforcement on 14 April 1917 at the age of 21. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on 11 May 1917. According to his official record, Pte Parsons escaped any serious harm or injury other than a brief stay at Hospital as sick on 3 March 1918. He transferred units throughout his tour, finally serving with the 5th Battalion before returning home to Australia upon the H.T. Runic on 20 December 1919 with his wife and child.
