Born in Ballarat, Richard Luke was a single 20 year old confectioner at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 17th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A54 Runic on the 20th of June 1916.
Richard returned to Australia on the 18th of July 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 4th of September 1919.
